Meet Filip Löbl 🤍
Born in the Czech Republic, Filip graduated from the Dance Center Prague and joined the school’s company, which performed and toured throughout the Czech Republic. He began his professional career at the South Bohemian Ballet in České Budějovice under the direction of Atilla Egerházi and also performed works by Rui Horta, including at the Open Air Festival in Český Krumlov.
In 2013, he joined the Baltic Dance Theater in Gdańsk (Poland), where he danced in the repertoire of world-renowned choreographer Jiří Kylián. He later became a member of the Prague Chamber Ballet, performing works by Czech and Slovak choreographers, until 2017 when he moved to Austria to join the Landestheater Linz under the direction of Mei-Hong Lin. There, he performed the soloist role of Banquo in Johann Kresnik’s Macbeth at the opening of the Impulstanz Festival in Vienna, as well as roles in L’Arpeggiata’s Music for a While and Yama by Ashley Lobo.
At the Landestheater Linz, he collaborated choreographically in every production by Mei-Hong Lin and toured across Germany, Austria, and Taiwan. Since 2020, Filip has been working as a freelance artist and ventured into choreography, collaborating with Sebastian Eilers, Daniel Morales Pérez, Beate Vollack, and Alexander Novikov, while continuing to perform at venues such as the Landestheater Linz, Theater an der Wien, Kulturhof Perg, and Tafelhalle Nürnberg.
He created the duet Between for the dance company Sense Pell, which was selected to be performed at Craft Choreography in Vienna, Move it! in Innsbruck, the Act Festival in Bilbao, the Centre Civic Casa Groga in Barcelona, and the Choreography Competition in Sabadell, Spain, where the duet won two prizes. His first full-length piece, S-Y-S-T-E-M, was performed twice for the International Dance Council (CID) Section Vienna in Linz, Austria.
In 2023 and 2024, Filip organized evenings of dance at Kristallwerk/Graz under the title UNFOLDING SHAPES, presenting his choreographies N-e-e-D and Kanojo no.
