Meet Bruna Diniz Afonso ✨
Bruna Diniz Afonso was born in Brazil and lives in Graz/Austria. She received her training in classical and contemporary dance in Belo Horizonte and Vancouver. She also holds a bachelor's degree in product design from the UEMG (University of the State of Minas Gerais) in Brazil. As a professional dancer, Bruna was part of the Balé Jovem do Palácio das Artes in Belo Horizonte and the Lamondance Company in Vancouver. She then moved to Germany, and in 2012 was engaged at the Ulm Theatre under the artistic direction of Roberto Scafati. In 2013, she was engaged in the Graz Opera and danced in pieces by the director of the dance company Darrel Toulon, as well as in pieces by various invited choreographers. From 2015 she was at the Graz Opera under the artistic direction of Jörg Weinöhl and performed in his pieces as a leading role and soloist. Since 2018, she has been working as a freelance dancer, choreographer, and dance teacher in projects between Austria and Germany. As the projects realized in Graz, ‘Burst’ and ‘present.in.difference’, as well as, production at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin with Aletta Collins, Sir Simon Rattle and Ólafur Elíasson. Besides that, she has been collaborating in projects in the field of dance film.
