Fighting for First

The Foundations Competition Team is the official competitive dance team of Foundations Dance Collective OG. The team is led by Sarah Krainberger and Genie Patrathiranond. Dancers who are accepted onto the team are expected to train and perform at an exceptionally high level. Competition will improve dancers’ skills and confidence, give them an opportunity to connect with other dancers, challenge them to perform on stage, and work towards a professional career.

Applications for 2023-2024 Season

Applications for the Foundations Competition Team 2023-2024 season are now open!

Dancers who are at an intermediate or advanced level in Jazz, Contemporary, or Ballet are welcome to apply by submitting their profile for evaluation. No in-person auditions will take place. Dancers will be notified within 3-5 business days of their acceptance onto the team.

Application deadline: Saturday September 30, 2023 23:59 CET

In the application, you'll be asked to rate your skill level in ballet, jazz, and contemporary. You'll also have to upload at least 1 headshot and 1 dance video (any style)

Solos
Duets
Trios

Dancers who would like to compete only a solo, duet, or trio with the Foundations Competition Team are welcome to do so! Dancers do not have to attend the 2x per week group trainings but will be required to have a certain number of private lessons. In the private lessons, dancers will work on learning and polishing the choreography, required technique, stage presence, and performance tactics.

Solo, duet, and trio dancers are still a part of the Foundations Competition Team and will receive teamwear, participate in the team photoshoot, be required to attend team meetings, etc.

2023-2024 Season Start & Open Training

The 2023-2024 Competition Team season officially begins on Monday October 2, 2023 and ends in July 2024 (TBA depending on world championship dates).

Pre-season open training sessions will take place on the following dates:

  1. 19.09.2023 - Tuesday 18:00-20:00
    MS St. Ändra Gymnastikraum
    Kernstockgasse 1, 8020 Graz

  2. 26.09.2023 - Tuesday 18:00-20:00
    MS St. Ändra Gymnastikraum
    Kernstockgasse 1, 8020 Graz

Open training cost: 30€ per session.

Everyone is welcome to join our open training sessions. Whether you'd like a preview of competition team or just need to fit in some extra dance training, we invite you to dance with us!

*Dancers who are already ACCEPTED into the Competition Team and SIGNED the Competition Team agreement are able to attend the open training sessions without extra cost.

**Dancers who have applied and received a CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE into the Competition Team MUST ATTEND the open training sessions. The open training session costs will be reduced from their Competition Team fee if they receive final acceptance.

Expectations

  • The 2023-2024 season officially begins on Monday October 2, 2023 and goes until July 2024 (TBA depending on world championship dates). Dancers are expected to participate for the entire season.

  • The training takes place 2x per week in Graz and officially starts the week of October 2.

    • Tuesdays 18:00-20:00

    • Saturdays 9:00-11:00

    In class, dancers work on ballet, jazz, contemporary and commercial technique as well as competition choreography for group dances.

  • Dance competitions that the team may attend include:

  • Being in a program such as this requires a certain financial commitment. The total fee for the 2023-2024 season is 3.195€ (2.662,50 + 532,50 USt).

    The 12 month payment plan is as follows:

    1. 500,00€ non-refundable deposit due on Monday October 2, 2023

    2. 245,00€ monthly payments due on the first business day of every month from November 2023 until September 2024

    The fee includes the items below:

    • Pre-season open training sessions

    • Team warmups and bags

    • Team photoshoot

    • Training 4 hours a week in a studio in Graz. In class, dancers will work on ballet, jazz, contemporary, and commercial technique and competition choreography for group dances.

    • Competition fees: Registration and starting fees for minimum 3 group dances for 2-3 regional qualifiers and 1-2 world championships.

    • Competition music and mixes

    • Professional videos and photos purchased from the competition for group dances

    • Additional rehearsals before competition

    • Costumes and shoes for group dances

    • Props for group dances

    • Extra makeup and accessories (rhinestones, feathers, jewelry, etc)

    • Travel and accommodation costs for competitions (hotels/apartments, car/van rental, flights, etc.)

    • Premiere Showcase performance (See Premiere Showcase section below)

    • 50% off weekly Foundations classes

    • 100€ towards any Foundations workshop

    • All Weekend Pass for Foundations The Convention 2024
